Thanks to the person who wrote me the card. It's really sweet of you. Thanks again! ^.^ Should i write one back... lols
Mr Tan(my physics teacher) told us this story which i found to be quite meaningful ba.
There was once this chicken farmer who found an egg. This egg was bigger then a chicken egg. However, he decided to bring it to his hen for it to incubate and see what comes out.
When the hen came back from her dinner, she found the bigger-then-a-chicken-egg egg in her nest. However, since she was curious herself, she decided to incubate it too, with the thinking that one more egg does not make much of a difference.
After 21 days(that's how long it takes for the chicken eggs to hatch.), the eggs hatched. Many cute little chicks emerged. However from the bigger-then-a-chicken-egg egg, a black and big chick hatched. It was definately not cute. The mother hen, who by now had forgotten about the earlier incident thought that it must have been a genetic error and decided that it must be her own offspring. So she accepted it.
Days passed and the mother hen did her best to teach her chicks the "chicken way." Then one day(the chicks are nearly adults.) when the mother hen took her chicks out for a walk, she spotted an eagle soaring in the sky, apparently looking to make a meal out of one of the chicks.
"GET BEHIND ME!!" The mother hen screeched as she opened her wings wide. All of the not-quite-mature chicks hid under her wings. All except for the black, larger-then-average and ugly chick, who was simply too big to fit under the mother hen's wings. He could only hide his head under her wings.
Frustrated, he pulled his head out and went to his "mother"'s side. Curious, he looked up to the eagle.
"Mummy mummy," He called urgently as he pulled at her feathers. "What is that thing?"
"It's an eagle."His mother replied tersely, for the danger was still not over.
"I think it looks like me." The black, larger-then-average and ugly chick said decidedly.
WHACK! The mother hen hit her "son"'s head and quickly move her wing back to its original position. "Don't be an idiot! You're a chicken! Why would you look like an eagle?!" The mother hen was a bit too angry.
The black, larger-then-average and ugly chick rubbed at his head and fell silent for awhile. It was not long before he spoke again.
"Mummy mummy, what is the eagle doing?" The black, larger-then-average and ugly chick asked.
"It's flying." Came the tense reply.
"Really? Then can i fly too?" The black, larger-then-average and ugly chick was obviously asking for it.
WHACK! WHACK!
"You're a chicken!! You cannot fly!!"
However, the black, larger-then-average and ugly chick did not know when to shut up.
"Mummy mummy," He said. "What does the eagle eat?"
"He eats young chicks like you" The mother hen said grimly, obviously trying to intimidate the black, larger-then-average and ugly chick.
"Really? Then i want to be an eagle. It's better to eat then to be eaten." The black, larger-then-average and ugly chick said wisely.
WHACK! WHACK! WHACK! The mother hen was beyond angry.
"YOU'RE A CHICKEN! HOW CAN YOU EAT YOUR FELLOW CHICKENS?!?" the screams of the mother hen scared away the eagle that was looking for a meal.
From then on, the black, larger-then-average and ugly chick(who was actually an eagle) got it into his head that he was a chicken. He never did become an eagle.
This teaches us a lesson... if you believe that you cannot do it, you'll never do it. So for everything, you just have to believe in order to accomplish it.
There can be miracles... when you believe...
